Making a big splash in the luxury fashion world: Chanel No.5 celebrates 100 years of sweet smelling success with the launch of their Factory 5 Collection on June 29th.
This collection features 17 limited edition bath and body products all wrapped up in the monochromatic packaging every Chanel lover knows and loves.
Super cute and thoughtful packaging + limited availability = hype! This collection is essentially the ultimate collector’s dream.
This collection is currently available internationally at experiential pop-up shops and at Chanel standalone boutiques.
Breaking News: Chanel has also tapped Saks Fifth Avenue to be the exclusive U.S. retailer for their Factory 5 Launch.
Online sources confirm that Saks will not be carrying the water bottles, nor shipping outside the US.
What does this iconic perfume actually smell like?
The quick answer: not a single thing.
Coco Chanel wanted to create a scent that could not be attributed to any one thing in nature. The result: a perfume with more than 80 blended scents including hints of jasmine, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, and May rose.
Chanel Factory 5 Collection
You guys know the drill, all prices are in USD.
1. Chanel Water Bottle - Sold Out in the US
Retail: $75
Size: 590 ml
Perhaps the most coveted piece in this collection is this glass water bottle that, according to online sources, sold out in 4 hours at some locations.
Designed to mimic the same visual identity as the No.5 perfume bottle, Chanel lovers everywhere seem to be scouring the shelves for one to buy.
Why all the hype? People seem to love the aesthetic look and simplicity of the design. Other Chanel lovers had major FOMO, and didn’t want to miss out.
Sold out everywhere, people are already reselling these babies. Check out this eBay listing at $300 (woah)!
2. Chanel No. 5 Body Oil
Retail: $75
Size: 8.4 FL. OZ.
The packaging is a simple laboratory bottle which pays to Chanel No.5’s overall message: offering the experience of luxury in everyday life.
This body oil is not available for shipment from both Chanel boutiques and Saks as the oil’s cap is prone to spillage! You have to buy this product in person, hence why it’s probably not as popular.
3. Chanel No. 5 Shower Gel - Sold Out in the US
Retail price: $70
Size: 20 x 0.2 FL. OZ.
Housed in a paint can design, many Chanel collectors envision this can as a vase - once they have used all the shower gel, of course.
4. Chanel No. 5 Bath Tablets - Sold Out in the US
Retail price: $75
Size:10 x 0.60 OZ.
Why is this product sold out you ask? Many collectors are planning to reuse this tin can for display and aesthetic purposes.
The collection value of this product alone is upwards of $200. People seem to really want this tin can.
5. Chanel No. 5 Body Cream
Retail price: $75
Size: 5 FL. OZ.
The body cream is a Chanel popup and boutique exclusive - it is not available on Saks online.
6. Body Lotion
Retail price: $55
Size: 6.8 FL. OZ.
Those looking for body lotion that is more water-based and light weight, opt for the body lotion as opposed to the body cream - which has a thicker, shea butter base.
7. Chanel No. 5 The Mystery Box - Sold Out in the US
Retail Price: $65
Size: 1.76 FL. OZ.
Spoiler Alert! This Mystery Box contains:
A nail file
A small towel
A small hand cream
Mystery boxes seem to also be doing quite well on the preloved market with an average value of $400.
8. Chanel No. 5 Soap
Retail Price: $45
Size: 3.17 OZ.
The bottom line: anything with reusable packaging seems to be flying off the shelves - even if Chanel lovers are not a fan of the scent. This bar of soap is no exception!
9. Chanel No. 5 Sparkling Body Gel
Retail price: $85
Size: 6.8 FL. OZ.
This body gel has delicate flecks of golden sparkle that subtly illuminate skin. But despite all the glitz, this product has yet to receive the same amount of love and attention as the other products in this collection.
And of course…
10. Chanel No. 5 L’eau Eau De Toilette Spray
Retail price: $138
Size: 3.4 FL. OZ.
If you genuinely enjoy the scent of Chanel No. 5 and aren’t here for the Factory 5 collection for the packaging, you can just get the regularly packaged perfume for cheaper!
